Description
These apple fritter waffle donuts are the perfect mash-up of a cozy fall classic and an easy breakfast treat. Made with diced apples, warm spices, and a sweet vanilla glaze, they’re crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and completely irresistible.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
¾ cup milk (whole milk recommended)
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 medium apples, peeled and diced small (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
For the glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tablespoons milk
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with nonstick spray or melted butter.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
Pour wet ingredients into dry and gently stir until just combined—don’t overmix.
Fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed.
Scoop about ½ cup of batter into the hot waffle iron. Cook 3–4 minutes or until golden and crisp.
Transfer cooked waffle donuts to a wire rack and let cool slightly.
Make the glaze: whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth and pourable.
Drizzle glaze over warm donuts, let set, and enjoy immediately.
