Description

A delightful pastry featuring a buttery crust and sweet apple filling, topped with a luscious vanilla glaze.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 2 large apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup walnuts (chopped, optional)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts.
  3. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry until it’s about 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Place the apple mixture in the center of the pastry and fold the edges over the filling.
  5. Brush the top of your kringle with a beaten egg.
  6. Transfer the kringle to a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While the kringle cools, mix together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
  8. Drizzle the glaze over the top of the kringle.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or pair with coffee or tea for an afternoon snack.
