Description
These chewy chocolate chip cookies are crisp on the edges, soft in the middle, and packed with melty chocolate chips. A classic homemade recipe that’s simple, foolproof, and always a hit for any occasion.
Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or mix)
Instructions
Cream the butter & sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
Mix in eggs & vanilla: Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla extract until smooth.
Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly mix into wet ingredients until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips: Stir gently to evenly distribute the chips.
Chill (optional): Refrigerate dough for 30–60 minutes for thicker cookies.
Scoop & bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between. Bake 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden but centers look soft.
Cool & enjoy: Let cookies rest 5 minutes on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For bakery-style cookies, press extra chocolate chips on top before baking.
Add nuts, coconut, or caramel for fun variations.
Store in an airtight container at room temp for 4–5 days.
Freeze dough balls for up to 3 months—bake straight from frozen.
