Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  6. Gently fold in the blackberries.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  8. Allow cakes to cool before transferring to a wire rack.
