- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup shredded cheese (Cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk (whole, skim, or almond)
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (or olive oil)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan by greasing it with butter or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well-blended.
- Add the shredded cheese to the dry mixture, reserving a small handful for the top if desired.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until creamy and well combined.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle reserved cheese on top if desired.
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve warm.
