Description
These brownies merge two beloved desserts—fudgy chocolate brownies and silky mousse—into one indulgent treat. With a dense base and a light, airy mousse topping, they’re rich, elegant, and perfect for impressing guests or treating yourself.
Ingredients
Brownie Layer (for a rich base):
½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
½ cup dark chocolate (chopped or chips)
½ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs (room temperature)
1 tsp vanilla extract
⅓ cup all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ tsp salt
Mousse Layer (for smooth top):
1 cup heavy whipping cream (chilled)
½ cup dark chocolate (chopped or chips)
1 Tbsp powdered sugar
¼ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8″ pan with parchment.
Make brownie layer: Melt butter and dark chocolate together. Whisk in sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Fold in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Bake 18–22 minutes until moist crumbs appear. Cool completely.
Make mousse layer: Melt the chocolate and cool slightly. Whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla to soft peaks. Gently fold in cooled chocolate in batches.
Assemble: Spread mousse over cooled brownie base, smoothing the top. Chill for at least 2 hours until set.
Serve: Use a sharp, clean knife to slice into squares after chilling
Notes
Allow the brownie base to cool fully before adding mousse to prevent mixing.
For clean slices, chill overnight and wipe your knife between cuts.
