Ingredients
Scale
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar or Gruyere
1/4 cup grated parmesan
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
2–3 tbsp chopped fresh chives or parsley
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or flaky salt for finishing
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment for easy cleanup and crisp edges.
In a medium bowl, blend cream cheese, shredded cheese, parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and cohesive. Stir in the chopped herbs.
Roll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into small holiday-tree shapes (or triangles with a tiny trunk). If you don’t have a cutter, freehand simple tree silhouettes work just fine.
Spread a thin layer of the cheese filling onto each pastry tree, leaving a small border to help with browning. Don’t overfill—you want the pastry to puff rather than spill.
Place a pinch more shredded cheese on top of the filling to create a bubbly, melty cap. Lightly brush the edges with the beaten egg wash so they bronze beautifully.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and golden and the filling is set and bubbly at the center. If the edges brown too quickly, tent with foil for the last few minutes.
Remove from oven and let rest 3-5 minutes on the pan. Garnish with extra herbs or a tiny sprinkle of seeds, then transfer to a platter and serve warm.
