Description
These homemade cinnamon sugar donuts are soft, fluffy, and coated in a buttery cinnamon-sugar topping. Baked instead of fried, they’re quick to make, mess-free, and the perfect cozy treat for breakfast, brunch, or anytime you’re craving something sweet.
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp salt
1 large egg
½ cup light brown sugar
½ cup whole milk
¼ cup sour cream (or plain yogurt)
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ cup granulated sugar (for coating)
1 tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing donuts before coating)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk egg, brown sugar, milk, sour cream, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
Gently fold dry ingredients into wet until just combined—do not overmix.
Pipe or spoon batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each well about ¾ full.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until donuts spring back lightly when touched.
While still warm, brush donuts with melted butter.
Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl, then roll each donut to coat.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For richer flavor, try browning the butter before adding it to the batter.
Store at room temp for up to 2 days in an airtight container.
Freeze uncoated donuts for up to 2 months, then thaw and coat before serving.
