Fresh basil leaves or parsley for garnish (optional)
Optional add-ins: chopped olives, sliced bell peppers, spinach
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease the basket with oil spray.
Unroll the crescent dough and press the seams together to form a single rectangle. If you’re using puff pastry, roll it out to a roughly 9-by-12 inch sheet and trim any edges.
Layer a thin line of mozzarella along the dough, then top with pepperoni. Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the top.
Roll the dough away from you into a tight log, pinching the seam to seal. If using crescent dough, trim the ends, then cut the log into 1-inch pinwheels.
Place the pinwheels in a single layer in the air fryer basket with the cut side down. Brush tops with the beaten egg wash and give a light spray of oil.
Air fry for 8–10 minutes, until the rolls are golden and the cheese inside is bubbling. If your rolls aren’t browned to your liking, give them another 1–2 minutes, watching closely to avoid over-browning.
Remove and let rest 2–3 minutes. Serve with warm marinara for dipping and a sprinkle of fresh herbs if you like.
Notes
When the craving for something warm, melty, and totally hand-held strikes, this little tray of pizza rolls is the answer. They come out blistered and golden, with a soft, pillow-y center and a crisp edge that disappears from the plate in seconds. The air fryer makes them faster and lighter than a full bake, so you can whip up a tray for a quick weeknight treat or a Pinterest-worthy appetizer. These pizza rolls are incredibly forgiving and endlessly customizable.
