Description

A unique dish combining creamy burrata cheese with a zesty spicy sauce, perfect as an appetizer or main course.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces burrata cheese
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Olive oil (for frying)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 can (14 ounces) canned crushed tomatoes
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Burrata: Drain the burrata cheese from its liquid and pat it dry with paper towels.
  2. Set up the Breading Station: In one shallow dish, place flour; in another, whisk the egg; in a third, add panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat the Cheese: Lightly dredge the burrata in flour, dip it in the egg, and roll it in the panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a skillet, heat about ½ inch of olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.
  5. Fry the Burrata: Carefully place the breaded burrata in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Make the Spicy Sauce: Heat olive oil in a saucepan, add garlic, sauté until fragrant, then stir in red pepper flakes and canned crushed tomatoes; simmer for about 5-7 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper.

Notes

Best served immediately for optimal texture. Pair with arugula and balsamic reduction.
