Ingredients
- Large Onions
- Ground Meat (lamb, beef, turkey, or chicken)
- Long-grain Rice
- Tomato Paste
- Fresh Herbs (dill and parsley)
- Olive Oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Feta Cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Peel and cook the onions in boiling water for 10-15 minutes until partially soft.
- In a large frying pan, heat olive oil over medium heat and brown the ground meat. Add cooked rice, tomato paste, herbs, salt, and pepper, cooking for another 5 minutes.
- Remove the center layers of the onions to create hollow spaces and fill each with the meat and rice mixture.
- Place the stuffed onions upright in a baking dish, drizzle with olive oil, add water to the dish, cover with foil, and bake for approximately 45 minutes, uncovering for the last 15 minutes.
Notes
For a healthier version, use ground turkey or chicken, and consider swapping rice for quinoa.
