  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Butter (unsalted)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate Chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl and allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, whisking fully, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  6. Grease a heart-shaped baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before transferring to a rack. Cut into heart shapes for serving.

Notes

For a healthier option, replace some butter with applesauce and use flax eggs for a vegan version.
