225 g cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup strawberry jam
1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
1 tablespoon cornstarch (to thicken the fresh berries, if using)
1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Pinch of salt
Fresh strawberries for topping (optional)
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy removal.
Roll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. If you have a heart cookie cutter, use it to punch out shapes; if not, freehand a heart shape with a small knife for a rustic look.
In a bowl, beat the cream cheese with sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth and fluffy.
In a separate small saucepan, heat the strawberry jam or chopped strawberries with the cornstarch until the mixture thickens to a jam-like consistency. Let it cool slightly so it doesn’t melt the filling.
Place the heart shapes on the prepared sheet. Pipe or spoon a generous dollop of the cream cheese filling into the center of each heart, leaving a thin border around the edges.
Top each with a spoonful of the strawberry filling. Be careful not to overflow the edges; you want a neat border for a pretty bake.
Brush the exposed pastry edges with the beaten egg wash for a glossy, bronzed finish.
Bake 12–15 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and golden and the centers are set. If the edges brown too quickly, tent with foil and continue baking.
Cool on a rack for 5–8 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh strawberry slices if desired before serving.
