Description
Delicious sausage stuffed mushrooms that are a perfect elegant appetizer for any gathering.
Ingredients
- Portobello or cremini mushrooms
- Ground Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
- Cream cheese
- Grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh garlic
- Chopped yellow onion
- Fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, or rosemary)
- Breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Clean the mushrooms and remove the stems, reserving the chopped stems.
- In a skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix the cooked sausage, sautéed onion and garlic, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, fresh herbs, and chopped mushroom stems. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Stuff the mushroom caps with the filling mixture.
- Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top (optional) and place them in the oven.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and tops are golden brown.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
