- 8 ounces macaroni pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Boil salted water and cook the macaroni until al dente, then drain and return to pot.
- In a saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and whisk in 4 tablespoons of flour until a paste forms. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk until thickened, then stir in 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, and spices, mixing gently.
- Layer half the macaroni and cheese mixture in the baking dish, spread the meatloaf mixture on top, then finish with the remaining macaroni and cheese.
- Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top and bake for 35-45 minutes until cooked through.
Notes
Allow the casserole to rest for 10 minutes after baking for easier slicing.
