  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze; optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze; optional)

  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Beat the cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy. This will be your creamy center.
  • In another bowl, stir together the chopped pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon, melted butter, and a pinch of salt until the mixture resembles a loose crumble.
  • Roll the puff pastry into a rectangle if needed, then spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the surface, leaving a 1/2-inch border all around.
  • Sprinkle the pecan filling in an even layer over the cream cheese. The more even your layer, the neater your rolls will be.
  • Roll the pastry up tightly from the long edge, sealing the seam. Chill the log in the fridge for 12 minutes to make slicing easy.
  • Slice into about 1-inch rounds and place them cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg wash if using.
  • Bake for 16 minutes, until the rolls are puffed and golden and the filling is set. Let them rest for 5 minutes before glazing or serving.
