Description

Delightfully vibrant and sweet, Pink Velvet Cinnamon Rolls are a visually stunning twist on a classic treat, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted, plus more for filling)
  • Gel food coloring (as needed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • Salt (a pinch)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine buttermilk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, and food coloring to the yeast mixture.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Gradually stir this dry mix into the wet mixture.
  4. Turn out your dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough to release any air. Roll it into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread softened butter and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly and cut it into 12 equal sections.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and cover again. Let them rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow your rolls to cool slightly before glazing with the cream cheese frosting and garnish with extra cinnamon.

Notes

Consider using whole wheat flour or coconut sugar for healthier alternatives.
