Description
Delightfully vibrant and sweet, Pink Velvet Cinnamon Rolls are a visually stunning twist on a classic treat, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted, plus more for filling)
- Gel food coloring (as needed)
- 2 large eggs
- Salt (a pinch)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine buttermilk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, eggs, and food coloring to the yeast mixture.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Gradually stir this dry mix into the wet mixture.
- Turn out your dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Once risen, punch down the dough to release any air. Roll it into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread softened butter and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly and cut it into 12 equal sections.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and cover again. Let them rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow your rolls to cool slightly before glazing with the cream cheese frosting and garnish with extra cinnamon.
