Description
A delightful and nutritious Russian dessert made from fruit puree, water, and a hint of vanilla.
Ingredients

- 2 cups Fruit Puree (strawberries, raspberries, or cherries)
- 3 cups Water
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
Instructions
- Prepare the Fruit Puree by blending your choice of fruit in a food processor until smooth.
- Combine the prepared fruit puree with water in a medium saucepan and stir until well mixed.
- Heat the fruit-water mixture over medium flame and add sugar, stirring to dissolve it completely.
- Create a slurry by mixing cornstarch with a couple of tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl.
- Once the fruit mixture is hot (but not boiling), slowly pour in the cornstarch slurry while stirring until the mixture thickens (about 2-3 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and lemon juice. Adjust sweetness or acidity as needed.
- Transfer to serving dishes and allow it to cool to room temperature before refrigerating for at least 2 hours to set.
Notes
Use filtered water for the best taste and experiment with seasonal fruits for different flavors.
