Description

These Salted Caramel Apple Crumble Bars are buttery, gooey, and packed with cozy apple-cinnamon flavor. With a shortbread crust, spiced apple filling, and a golden crumble topping drizzled with salted caramel, they’re the perfect fall dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust & Crumble

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup old-fashioned oats

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon salt

For the Apple Filling

4 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)

½ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the Salted Caramel

½ cup salted caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy removal.

Make Crust & Crumble: In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in melted butter until crumbly. Press two-thirds of the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Reserve the rest for the topping.

Prepare Apple Filling: In another bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour until evenly coated.

Assemble Layers: Spread apple mixture over the crust. Drizzle with salted caramel sauce. Sprinkle the reserved crumble mixture evenly on top.

Bake: Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and apples are tender.

Cool & Cut: Allow bars to cool completely in the pan. Lift out using the parchment and cut into squares or rectangles. Drizzle with extra caramel if desired.

Notes

Apple Options: Granny Smith adds tartness, while Honeycrisp or Fuji bring extra sweetness.

Extra Gooey: Add more caramel before baking and again after cooling for double the indulgence.

Make Ahead: These bars can be baked a day in advance—flavors deepen overnight.

Storage: Store at room temperature for 2 days, in the fridge for 5 days, or freeze up to 2 months.
