Ingredients

  • Mixed Berries (2 cups)
  • Granulated Sugar (¾ cup)
  • Lemon Juice (1 tablespoon)
  • Cornstarch (2 tablespoons)
  • All-Purpose Flour (2 cups)
  • Baking Powder (1 tablespoon)
  • Salt (½ teaspoon)
  • Unsalted Butter (½ cup, cold and cubed)
  • Milk (¾ cup)
  • Egg (1 large)
  • Vanilla Extract (1 teaspoon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mixed berries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Let sit.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until coarse crumbs form.
  4. Make a well in the flour mixture and add the milk and vanilla. Stir until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, and roll out to about ¾-inch thickness. Cut out heart shapes.
  6. In a greased baking dish, pour the berry mixture and place the biscuits on top.
  7. Brush the biscuits with egg wash and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
